Gday all, my name is Andy, I am just a bloke who likes getting out on, in and around the water, mainly kayak fishing and snorkelling on my channel but I have always been into water sports so any thing might pop up here!
I will aim to upload new videos on weekends, maybe not every weekend, and not always on a weekend, but....you get the idea :)
Hope you enjoy my videos, feel free to comment and ask questions or give feedback, give me a thumbs up, share and subscribe if you like what you see. Tight lines everyone!

Hope you enjoy the video and as always, tight lines!

Nearly lost my rod -- I had to swim for it! (Language Warning)

A ridiculous end to a pleasant evening session! A combination of a poorly set rod holder, an over tight drag and a grumpy stingray almost cost me a rod and reel, and did cost me my dignity! Language warning on this one in case any kids are watching. Hope you enjoy the video and as always, tight lines! There are no crowds as we don't like to advertise. Please stop doing this
I appreciate your point mate, and thanks for making it politely. However, a couple of points of my own. Firstly, I am strongly of the opinion that any Australian should be free to visit any area of Australia that they wish, regardless of how they find out about it....even if it is a poxy little UA-cam video like mine. Secondly, while I take your word for it that you don't advertise, a quick google search will show you that it most certainly is advertised, in many places. I sincerely hope you enjoy your next visit to Cactus, a wonderful place for all Aussies to enjoy.
That's minus the spot where we can fish. Im sure closing the mole has a reason. Hope it reopens soon enough. Thanks for the info mate.😮😮😮
Cheers mate, hope it opens soon!
You’re right Andy, people are dick heads, especially in large groups. We’ve had that happen a lot here in the U.S. but since it’s usually the government doing the closing, common sense never prevails. Hopefully your people do better, I’ll keep my eyes crossed for ya.
Cheers Brian, as the saying goes, "Common sense isn't that common." I will keep my fingers (and eyes) crossed for a positive outcome! 😁
Thanks Andy, warranted gum flapping !!! Unfortunately restrictions to public access areas are becoming a sign of the times. Freo (Hamy Hill) lad myself, used to fish around the groin to the left of bathers beach and south mole, caught some great tailor and silver bream there. Definitely not an easy fix as there are multiple reasons and aspects to a complex issue, as you mentioned some folk are homeless and have nowhere to go so need to camp/squat somewhere. The housing crisis is ridiculous, one the cost to buy or rent plus the availability or lack of. There’s a lot of people living week to week and does not take much to tip the balance into unaffordable territory. As you mentioned, not all people that camp out are dickheads, they have nowhere to go. I guess on the other end of the spectrum there are genuine dickheads that seriously lack a few million brain cells, call them Darwin Award candidates!!! I’ve seen posts on UA-cam of clowns in 4x4s down at Tim’s Thicket and other places cutting up in the dunes, I mean Duh ! The odds of them being caught by a local shire ranger would be minimal, it’s generally the damage and aftermath that’s seen and reported to authorities but the damage is already done. I’m thinking that’s where the reaction from shires to close public access to these areas comes from, they don’t have the recourses to police 24/7 and so they shouldn’t, people should be trusted to do the right thing and most do. Once again it’s a few muppets that screw it up for the majority. Anyway tight lines mate hope you get that pinkie soon. 🎣
Cheers Rosco, it's a tough situation for some people with no option but to sleep in their vehicles...it's a shame that others causing problems has led to the current situation. As I have said, hopefully common sense prevails and the mole reopens soon!
Thanks for your thoughts. Well said. Fremantle Ports currently reviewing situation following a public comment period. Lot of pressure on them to reopen. I would appreciate it if you could forward video and comments to Fremantle Ports review group to view.
Cheers mate, hopefully Fremantle Ports review leads to a reopening soon!
should just give access to people with fishing permits
Hopefully access is returned to anyone who wants to use the mole responsibly.
You are spot on mate. This banning of fishing spots is happening all over WA and theyre closing more and more beaches to 4x4s also . This is a deliberate and orchestrated agenda they are also closeing camping and forest areas all over the state or forcing every one into caravan parks or crowded camping areas where you have to put up with drunken idiots and music blairing. gone are the days where you were free to camp by yourself and enjoy nature, which to me is the whole reason i want to get out of the city. As for people camping on the Mole as well as many other places this government has made it so difficult to be able to afford the high cost of rents, homelessness is getting out of control,
Yeah, it is not as simple as just a few back packers making a mess, some people have no choice but to live in their vehicle. As for camping and beach access, unfortunately it is the actions of the few that often impacts the access of the many. Hopefully common sense prevails in this case.
What we need is a fisheries minister who fishes not some old derelict labour greeny tree hugger
That would be ideal, a minister who cares about the fishery and the fishers.
Such a shame Andy have fished there plenty of times loved fishing there and watching the ships come in and out surly there are other avenues they could try before shutting it down but it’s like camping spots Andy getting shut down through idiots that don’t care unfortunately we can’t stop it but I feel there are other ways to rectify the situation rather than painting everyone with the same brush
Cheers Podge, hopefully we will regain access soon but unfortunately the easiest way for Fremantle Ports to deal with the issue is to shut the gates...hoping we get good news soon and can drive back out there for a fish!
am i wrong but i googled it and it says its reopened
Open to pedestrians, not vehicles.
Well said mate
Cheers mate!
Well said Andy. Our fishing spots in Perth are drying up for sure, particularly in the last few years, often in response to issues that recreational fishing has little or nothing to do with. Unfortunately, we're given little consideration as we seem to be (in my opinion) the consistent minority. There's always something or someone more important to satisfy than a few fishos wetting a line in the early morning it seems! I also have many fond memories of South Mole - hopefully it reopens fully soon - the Paddlefisher has spoken!
Cheers Paz, it's an unfortunate part of our current society that the noisy minority (or in this case the poorly behaved minority) control the outcome for the silent majority. More and more fishing spots will be lost because people can not treat their environment with the respect it deserves. I am hopeful of a positive outcome but for now that's all it is...hope.
Well said mate ..I live in Mount magnet and only get to Perth now and then ..my wife and I love to go fishing ..hopefully it reopens ..didn’t they close under the old canning bridge as well ..I noticed old jetty’s disappearing as well ..
its is reopened google it :)
Cheers mate, hopefully common sense will prevail and it reopens soon!
Love this video well said...
Cheers mate!
Great video ❤
Thank you!!
Well done ❤
Thanks!
The swimmer 🤦♂️
Regular occurrence.
1st cab of the rank. Tailor fresh are fantastic
Cheers mate, they sure are!
Hey Andy im new to fishing i was just wondering what size rod and reel you were using?
Gday mate, smaller outfit is a 9 foot rod with a Rovex 6000 reel/10 pound mono. Larger outfit is a 10 foot rod with a 6000 Fin Nor/30 pound braid.
Great session on the sand mate. Those boxfish get around!
They sure do Paz, cool looking fish! Cheers as always cobber!
Awesome sesh mate!!
Cheers mate!
Another epic session Andy well done
Cheers as always Podge!
Great session bud, It's refreshing to see a humble fisho. Well done on the catch 👏
Cheers mate, much appreciated!
Well done Andy, nice feed of fresh fish. Have to agree with you re the crowds, think I’d rather catch nothing and have the beach to yourself vs fishos casting across you and the hassle.
Cheers mate, I am stoked for the guys getting snapper but the crowds are too much for me.
That's what you call a good morning session.
For sure, cheers mate!
Dang good session Andy. 👍🤙
Cheers Brian!
Nice feed mate ..well done
Cheers mate!
In evening thete few barra hang sround old jetty, live mullet best.
Cheers for the tip mate!
Nice winter squids there mate, for sure you had a nice meal with those ones, are you using the tentacles to catch whiting?
Yeah mate, squid tentacles are just about my favourite bait.
Great video awesome squid session 🙂🐙🎣
Cheers mate, it was good to get back to chasing some south freo squid...it had been a while!
Tried 3 times to spell a word and autocorrect asked if I was having a stroke so I’ll save that question for another video. 😂 Good vid Andy, thanks for taking us fishing with you. 👍🤙
Glad you enjoyed it Brian, thanks as always mate!
great vid paddle, just a question do you use a shark deterrent on your yaks??
Cheers mate, I run a shark shield when fishing in the ocean.
@@paddlefisher So you had one on in this video? how much do they set u back?
I don't remember what I paid for mine, a quick search will tell you what you need.
Thsbks for the vid catching squid on the paddle kayak, I have much less luck but maybe paddling too quickly. I’ll defo try what you do, maybe I’ll get a few more. Great size squid 👌
Cheers mate, it would be a good move to slow down a touch, you will hook a bit of weed but you will also hook more squid.
Gotta love a South Freo squid. Well done mate. I don't mind squidding from the Tarpon. My main fishing buddy has a paddle kayak, so its easier for me to use one too! I don’t troll much - when on the paddle yaks, I set a drift and actively cast, while hanging a sleeper jig underneath me. I'll have to give your method a try!
Cheers Paz, it was good to get the tarpon back out for a run! I prefer to troll as it keeps the jig in the water longer than cast and retrieve.
Great feed there Andy where has your kings chair gone the surfboard one
Cheers Podge, the throne is in the shed, I will bust it out for a future vid.
Cool
Great video what beach mate realy looking for safe for car oh and a feed 😂
Cheers mate, this was at Leighton.
Atrocious conditions 😅
Yep, pretty tough going.
that was my cousin
Cool. How's he going?
Good squid
Cheers mate.
Nice squid there Andy, you are always nailing it in that spot aye, Like the water footages too. As always another good vid.
Woodies is always a safe bet for a feed of equid! Cheers as always mate!
Great video. It's great to see a local getting out and amongst it.
Cheers mate much appreciated.
Can i please ask you mentioned a squid bag limit of 15, is there a size limit as well ? Really like your outlook on fishing and the way you present you videos, Thank you.
No size limit on squid, and the smaller ones are often the better ones to eat.
What months are best for squidding in Woodies?, are the winter months more productive in your opinion?
Squid are available year round, but winter is generally considered the best time for bigger ones.
@@paddlefisher Cheers that's pretty much what I thought, time to get the dinghy out, I fish Warnbro sound and around Mangles bay 🦑👍
The one thing you catch that I actually know about is the squid. Ate a lot of it in Thailand 40+ years ago and love it. Cheers Andy 👍🤙
Cheers Brian, gotta love a feed of squid!
Hey there do you have any recommendations for budget friendly kayaks to fish around the cockburn sound and woodmans point? Really want to access more spots but don’t have the budget to drop $1k+ on a yak
Second hand would be the way to go, Wilderness systems are a quality kayak that don't have the price tag of hobies....a good condition tarpon 120 would be a good place to start.
Great vid mate, love your barbie, hope u enjoyed your beers, tight lines 👍👍👍
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed the vid!
Followed you from the start, a straight up guy showing people you don't need a 80k fishing boat to catch and cook a delicious feed. Keep it up 👍
Much appreciated mate, glad you enjoyed the vid!
Good feed good beer what more does a man need cheers Andy
For sure Podge, cheers mate!
Great video awesome squid session 🐙🙂👍
Cheers mate!
